On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 49 stations on 2 deck looking up and to starboard from 47 station showing the closed door to the engineer's workshop with a hose nozzle alongside it and a boiler room vent in the left foreground. Cable stowage brackets, three starter panels, a switch box and a supply panel are against the boiler downtake bulkhead on the right. Runs of electrical cables are under the deckhead. A vertical format negative.
