On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' dining hall between 52 and 56½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward from 55 station showing folding tables and benches set athwartships. Cupboards and an electric fire are against the forward bulkhead and a large air conditioning unit is in the starboard forward corner.
