On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' dining hall between 52 and 56½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 53 station showing a folding table and bench set athwartships in the right foreground. A dresser with two 4-slice toasters above and a cold water dispenser beside it are against the fan chamber bulkhead. A cold sweet and drinks counter is against the port bulkhead next to the dining hall door.
