On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' servery between 51 and 52½ stations on 2 deck looking to starboard from the doorway. A sink unit with shelves and drawers under and a hot water cylinder above is on the right. On the left is the serving hatch and counter with an electric food and plate warming unit beyond it.
