On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 30¾ and 41 stations on 2 deck looking to starboard and slightly aft from 38½ station showing the wardroom lobby with a floral curtain in front of the grained timber door. A timber, half glazed cupboard unit is next to the wardroom door. On the right is the hatch down to the officers' cabins lobby on 3 deck and the stairs up to 1 deck.
