On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 11½ and 16 stations on 2 deck, looking forward from 13½ station showing the diesel generator compartment through the open watertight door at 11½ station. A fire hose point and nozzle are on the port bulkhead and the door to the senior rates' bathroom is on the right. A vertical format negative.
