On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 11½ and 16 stations on 2 deck, looking aft, slightly to starboard and up from 12 station showing the vertical ladder leading up to the door to the small arms store which is above the senior rates' bathroom. A cable stowage bracket is on the left.
