On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the G.W.S. (guided weapons system) power room between 47¾ and 51½ stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking to starboard from 49 station showing a fire extinguisher and an automatic emergency lantern next to the doorway. A G.W.S. 20 power supply board, which is also labelled as a G.W.S. 21 power supply board, is against the starboard bulkhead with an automatic change-over switch panel manufactured by Watford Electric & Manufacturing Co Ltd next to it. A large wooden chest is on the deck in the right foreground. A vertical format negative.
