The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). In the communications control room (TX) between 28 and 31 stations on the port side of 2 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the communications control room (transmit) between 28 and 31 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to port and slightly aft from the doorway at 29 station showing the Type 640 cabinets Nos. 1, 2 and 3. Against the side of the ship are a Thermotank air conditioning unit, an electric fire, a type 640 cooling fan starter panel and two type 640 cooling fan running warning lamps. A vertical format negative.
