On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 63 stations on 2 deck, looking forward and to port from 61½ station showing the damage control station with a ventilated suit locker on the extreme left, an Hilsch vortex tube locker, a fire party locker, Nu-Swift fire extinguisher cartridges, an N.B.C.D. intercom amplifier, a telephone, a microphone and a tannoy. An automatic emergency lantern is on the port bulkhead above a transformer. A vertical format negative.
