On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 63 stations on 2 deck, looking aft and to port from 61 station showing the watertight door at 63 station closed but not clipped. An international compressed air breathing apparatus Mk. 2 cabinet and a cable stowage rack are against the port bulkhead. the watertight door to the senior rates' bathroom and W.Cs. is open and an automatic emergency lantern is ion the bathroom bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
