On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the diving gear store between 46 and 47¾ stations on 1 deck looking to port from 47 station showing a workbench on the left with a vice fixed to it and another vice at the back. An air bottle charging unit and two cupboards labelled S.D.D.E. are against the port bulkhead. A fan chamber manufactured by Keith Blackman is in a boiler room ventilation trunk in the port forward corner.
