The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The funnel, mainmast and hangar from the quayside.

The Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the quayside abreast the flight deck looking to starboard, forward and up showing her foremast, funnel and hangar, which has the mainmast with IFF interrogation antenna at the top and the canvas covered G.W.S. 20 Seacat missile launcher on its roof. the ship's nameboard is below the rack of liferafts on the side of the hangar. The ship is a member of the 4th Frigate Squadron.
