The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The ship's MRS3 director, foremast, funnel and mainmast from the quayside.

The Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the quayside abreast the bridge looking to starboard, aft and up showing her MRS 3 director, foremast, funnel, emergency conning position and mainmast. Two liferafts, a canvas covered 3 inch Knebworth-Corvus rocket launcher and a 20 mm oerlikon gun are at 1 deck level. The 25 feet motor cutter is in its davits and the mainmast has an IFF interrogator at the top. The ship is a member of the 4th Frigate Squadron. A vertical format negative.
