On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the canteen between 18½ and 21 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking forward from 20½ station showing the canteen manager's desk with a notice board and a Thermotank air conditioning unit above it and an electric fire by the side. Every spare space is utilized to store boxes of Fanta, Coke,crisps, cigarettes, chocolate bars, razor blades, pencils and dimple beer mugs. A vertical format negative.
