On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the Marine Engineer Officer's cabin between 30 and 31½ stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking to port and aft showing the door to the cabin with an electric fire next to it. A lieutenant's jacket is hanging on a hook. His desk is on the left complete with a telephone, a letter tray rack, a bookshelf and a combination safe.
