The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The port side flight deck safety net between 51 and 57 stations on 01 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and the photographer is on the port side of the flight deck at 01 deck level looking aft and down showing the deck edge safety net between 51 and 57 stations. Under the safety net are four inflatable liferafts and the ship's brow. A vertical format negative.
