On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the lobby between 31 and 34 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to port from 33 station showing the door to the pay and correspondence office with a 'Mind Your Head' notice above it and a service hatch to the side of it. A distribution board is above the service hatch and an emergency change over switch and connection box is below it. Against the aft bulkhead is a large distribution panel and cable stowage brackets.
