The 'Blanche' frigate, lost among the Breakers [4 Mar 1807]
Inscribed: "The 'Blanche' frigate, lost among the Breakers". 'Blanche' was wrecked off Ushant on 4 March 1807. Also in the collection is a coloured aquatint by Thomas Sutherland after Thomas Whitcombe of the wreck (PAD6062), unsuitable for publication because very little of the ship is shown. See this item for a fuller description of the incident.
