On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the bridge wireless office between 32½ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard showing the positions of seven operators on the right and two operators on the left. In the right foreground is a direction finder receiver made in 1943. B40 and B41 CAY receivers are against the aft bulkhead. The centre console is the senior communications rating's position and is equipped with telephones, a microphone, interphone switchboard, loudspeakers and two speaking tubes. The three positions nearest the ship's side are fitted with Powquip teleprinters.
