On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the boiler room between 41 and 49 stations on 3 - 4 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side of the centreline of the lower platform at 46 station showing the control console for the two boilers. At the top of the console are two engine order receivers and the boiler room telegraph which has the commands gas all clear, increase, slow, steady, full, stop making smoke, telephone, gas alarm, stop pumping over, check superheat, astern, stand by, decrease and one that is obscured by the pointer.
