On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is on the starboard side of 1 deck at 25 station looking aft and to port showing the face of the superstructure and the enclosed bridge. The watertight hatch on the right leading down to 2 deck has a weather cover over it. Against the face of the superstructure is the 4.5 inch magazine flooding cabinet, a first aid cabinet, the ship's bell and the replenishment at sea tripod. Canvas dodgers are fitted to the rails at the forward end of 01 deck. The ship's badge depicting a double-headed eagle is fixed to the top of the enclosed bridge. The type 277Q radar scanner and the foremast are in the background. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay.
