On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the enclosed bridge between 27½ and 31½ stations on 01 deck looking forward and to starboard showing the pelorus repeater, speaking tubes and the captain's chair on the raised platform. An asdic type 177 range and bearing repeater is against the bulkhead in the left foreground. Speed and distance and rudder indicators and an electric fire are against the bulkhead in the forward extension of the bridge. The positions for three communications ratings are against the starboard side of the bridge. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay and the cargo liner Clan Fraser (1961) can be seen on the building slip through the bridge windows. She was launched 27 July 1961.
