The Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959). A starboard view of the director, foremast and funnel.
The Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is on the quayside looking to port and slightly forward showing the starboard side of the ship's upperworks from 31 to 49 stations. The Mark 6M gun director is abaft the air lookouts and gun direction officer's position with the Type 277Q radar dish on its lattice structure ahead of the lattice foremast. The ship's funnel has the Red Hand of Ulster logo on it, showing her assignment as a unit of the 20th Frigate Squadron based at Derry/Londonderry. The emergency conning position is on the left of the picture. The 27 feet motor whaler in the davits has a canvas cover over it. Negative number N65627 is almost identical.
