On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the emergency conning position at 47 station on 02 deck looking aft showing the MF/DF coil on its mounting bracket fitted to the face of the bofors ready use magazine. Abaft is the lattice mast supporting the type 944 radar aerial. An expansion tank and cordage reels are on the top of the bofors ready use magazine and crew shelter. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. Astern of the ship is the tanker Solen (1961) being fitted out and on the oppeosite side of the river alongside the Hawthorn, Leslie fitting out berth is the cargo ship Linkmoor (1961).
