On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 27 and 31 stations on 3 deck looking to port showing a hammock stowage bin, an electric fire and a mirror on a pillar. Against the aft bulkhead are kit lockers, tea and sugar tray, cleaning gear locker, dirty boot lockers and fuse panels. In the centre are tables with bench seats and more kit lockers. On the right is another mess cleaning gear locker between the tables. On the port side is the bulkhead of the officers' cooks and stewards mess.
