On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is inside the protective cage in the steering gear compartment between 75 and 80 stations on 3 deck looking to port and slightly aft from the starboard side at 76½ station showing the front of the John Hastie & Co Ltd steering gear No. H.G.7160. An electric fire is mounted at the bottom on the steering engine.
