On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is on the flag deck on the starboard side of 01 deck looking forward from the top of the air treatment unit at 37 station. The support for the Mark 6M gunnery director is on the left and the+ washdeck locker is in the foreground, just abaft the air lookouts position which has the gun direction officer's position above and inboard. The mounting for the ten inch signal projector is in the bridge wing on the right with the canvas covered azimuth repeater and the canvas covered target acquisition system sight ahead of it. The hand grenade locker and the conning intercom loudspeaker are mounted against the side screen. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay. The Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Bayleaf (1955) is in the background.
