On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to port from the starboard side of the mess showing two tables and bench seats in the foreground. The shell hoist for the 4.5 inch guns is between the tables and an electric fire and an emergency connection box are fitted to the pillar next to the hoist. Greatcoat lockers are against the aft bulkhead and eight kit lockers are in the centre of the mess with a litter bin and an emergency cable stowage fitted to the end of them. An electric fire, a refrigerator, an air conditioning unit and kit lockers are against the forward bulkhead. Two settee bunks are against the port side. Hammock rails are under the deckhead.
