On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the mechanic's and seamen's mess between 57 and 62½ stations on 3 deck looking forward and to starboard from the centreline of the mess at 61½ station showing two rows of kit lockers on either side of the centreline. A large hammock stowage bin is in the centre and oiltight scuttles above Nos. 5 and 6 oil fuel tanks are in the deck next to it. To the left of centre is the steps up to 2 deck. An air conditioning unit, a clock reading 4.38 and various lockers are against the forward bulkhead. Bunks and two bread lockers are against the starboard side of the ship. Hammock rails are under the deckhead.
