On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the seamen's mess between 19 and 23 stations on 3 deck looking to port and forward from the starboard aft corner showing kit lockers, a refrigerator, an electric fire, a clock, an air conditioning unit and a hammock stowage bin against the aft bulkhead. Two tables and bench seats are in the right foreground and a noticeboard is on a pillar between the tables. Kit lockers and a greatcoat locker are against the forward bulkhead. Eight kit lockers and a hammock stowage bin are in the centre of the mess. Two more tables and two settee bunks are on the port side. The stairs up to 2 deck are on the right and hammock rails are under the deckhead.
