On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the roof on the 4.5 inch gun turret at 22 station on 1 deck looking forward showing the barrels of the 4.5 inch guns in the foreground. The capstan has a canvas cover over it. Awning stanchions and wires have been rigged. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary oiler Bayleaf (1955) is berthed ahead.
