The Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959). In the main passageway between 49 and 61½ stations on 2 deck.
On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the main passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 49 and 61½ stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 59 station showing an open watertight hatch leading down to 3 deck on the extreme right. Beyond the hatch are dirty clothes lockers and an emergency connection box. The door to the C.P.Os mess is on the starboard side of the lobby with three fuse panels next to it. In the forward bulkhead is a door marked 'Electrical office' but on Admiralty plan no. 899643/1 (NMM plan NPD1588) this is shown as the 'Planned maintenance office'. A damage control locker marked 'Elect. No. 2' has a first aid cabinet above it and a foam fire extinguisher by the side of it. The watertight hatch to the engine room is clipped open, a power panel is above it and a fire main and hose basket are next to it. Further along the starboard side are the engine room exhaust vent, a damage control locker marked 'D.C. No. 2', a fire extinguisher and doors to the canteen and the U.C.F.S.I. amplifier room. The watertight door at 49 station is open. A salvus locker, emergency cable stowage and a breathing apparatus cabinet and hose are against the port bulkhead.
