On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Falmouth (1959) alongside the Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson Ltd fitting out berth at Wallsend on the River Tyne between 1 and 25 July 1961. The photographer is in the mechanic's and seamen's mess between 57 and 62½ stations on 3 deck looking to port from the starboard side of the mess at 58 station showing, against the forward bulkhead, a greatcoat locker, an electric fire, a mess rack, dirty boot lockers, a clock, two Norris Warming Co Ltd air conditioning units, a transformer, a fire extinguisher, and two greatcoat lockers with a watertight hatch between them. On the left are two kit lockers with a litter bin and an ironing board fitted to the side of them, an hammock stowage, stairs up to 2 deck over a hatch leading down to 4 deck and beyond the hatch are more kit lockers. Against the port side are settee bunk units and bread lockers. Hammock rails are under the deckhead. A vertical format negative.
