On board the guided missile destroyer HMS Kent (1961) in No. 3 Basin in Chatham Dockyard, Kent. The photographer is in the operations room between 58 and 66 stations on 2 deck looking to port and forward from the starboard side at 63 station showing a workbench with cupboards and drawers under and bookshelves above in the right foreground. The photographer has called this workbench the 'flag area'. An automatic emergency lantern is fixed to a pillar on the left. On the port side of the operations room are two plotting tables with a vertical visual display screen between them. A console equipped with four telephones and a Radiac System box is against the forward bulkhead.
