On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the fitting out berth at the West Cowes shipyard of John Samuel White & Co Ltd. The photographer is in the bridge wireless office (called the main communications office on Admiralty plan no. 000898918 sheet 2 (NMM plan no. NPD1629)) between 32½ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard. On the extreme right is broadcast bay 7 with the book coder bay next and the bay of the rating in charge equipped with three telephones, a microphone and a voicepipe. Beyond him are two teletypewriter bays. On the left are bays 2 to 4, all equipped with morse keys and B40 CAY units, two C.U.J. 692 cabinets and in the corner are a transceiver with a rectifier under it. Against the ship's side are four circuit exchange units and in front of them is a desk with a Creed & Co teletypewriter on it.
