The Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958). The emergency conning position and the mainmast.

On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is looking aft and up from the starboard side of the funnel at 44 station showing the emergency conning position in the foreground and the face of the mainmast. At the top of the plated-in mainmast is the AMC aerial for the type 944 IFF interrogator. The ship is berthed port side to the west wall and the structure in the background is the 250 ton cantilever crane built by William Arrol & Co in 1917 and demolished in 1992.
