On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 23 and 27 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to port from the starboard side at 26 station showing two electric fires fixed to the cartridge hoist. Tables and chairs are in the foreground, a triple tier bunk unit is ahead of the hoist and an air conditioning unit, boot lockers and kit lockers are against the forward bulkhead.
