On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 27 and 31 stations on 3 deck looking aft and to starboard from the port side at 28 station showing a table and chairs on the right, a triple tier bunk unit on the left and kit lockers against the aft bulkhead. A watertight hatch leading down to 4 deck and an escape scuttle and rope ladder leading up to 2 deck are close to the aft bulkhead.
