On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 56 and 61½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 58 station on the port side of the mess showing a settee against the forward bulkhead. Glasses are lined up along the top of the settee. A bookshelf is at high level and two of the books are 'Penelope at War' and 'The Boston Strangler'. A cupboard is against the starboard side of the ship and it contains a beer keg. The beer tap is between the cupboard and an air conditioning unit. A teapot, cups, jug, bag of sugar, tankard, ashtray and bar mat are on the cupboard. A table, chair and waste bin are in the middle of the deck.
