On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 16 and 21½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward from near the doorway showing a litter bin, letter rack and automatic emergency lantern on the extreme left. Two triple tier bunk units are on the port side and kit lockers are against the forward bulkhead. On the fly bulkhead on the right are a small shelf with a framed head and shoulders sketch of a woman. A full waste bin is on the deck.
