On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Londonderry (1958) alongside the west wall in the basin at Rosyth Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 7 July 1967 and completed 28 January 1970. The photographer is standing on the centreline at the aft end of 2 deck at 79½ station looking forward. Two sets of mooring bollards are in the foreground with an awning stanchion ahead of them. All of the cable reels and winches on the quarterdeck have canvas covers. The hangar door is closed. Dockyard workmen and a few crew are on board. The ship is berthed starboard side to the wall and the 250 ton cantilever crane, built by Sir William Arrol & Co in 1917, is in the background.
