On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 57 and 62½ stations on 3 deck looking aft from 59 station just to starboard of the centreline showing two triple berth bunk unit, seven kit lockers and three boot lockers. A fire extinguisher, an emergency connection box and a Thermotank air conditioning unit are against the aft bulkhead.
