The photographer is in the junior rates' mess between 68 and 75 stations on 3 deck looking forward and to port from 73 station on the starboard side showing two triple tier bunk units, two kit lockers and two boot lockers on the left. Two tables and three chairs are in the foreground and beyond them are a greatcoat locker and an electric fire mounted on the side of some lockers.
