On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the conversion machinery room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking aft and to starboard from 32 station showing a battery storage unit on the right and a motor generator is on the deck. A transformer, two fuse panels, a rectifier cabinet and a capacitor and are against the aft bulkhead. Three rectifier cabinets are against the ship's side. An automatic emergency lantern and a telephone are fitted to a pillar on the left.
