On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the canteen between 18½ and 21 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft from 19 station showing the canteen fully fitted out with shelves and cupboards. A refrigerator is on the left and the canteen door has a serving hatch in it. Goods on sale include Watney's pale ale, Bovril, Cadbury's drinking chocolate, instant coffee, Ovaltine, Vitalis hair cream, Brylcreem, Vaseline hair cream, SPC and other brands of tinned fruit, Heinz soups, Smith's crisps and quavers, Penguin and Wagon Wheel biscuits, Maynard's wine gums, Quality Street, Kleenex tissues, Bic biros, Croxley writing pads and Quink ink.
