On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the 4.5 inch shell room between 19 and 23 stations on 4 deck looking to port from the starboard side at 22 station showing three nests of drawers for spare gear and stowage racks for 4.5 inch shells against the aft bulkhead. On the deck under the drawers are hanks of rope and shell mats. On the right is the 4.5 inch shell hoist and more stowage racks for 4.5 inch shells. Against the ship's side are shelves for the stowage of small arms ammunition. A vertical format negative.
