On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is looking aft from 34 station on the starboard side of 02 deck showing the single 20 mm oerlikon gun on a mark VIIA pedestal mount. The ship's 27 feet motor whaler is under a cover at her davits in the background. The ship is berthed starboard side to the wall.
