On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 56½ and 61½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard from 58 station showing a double settee bunk unit on the right and a settee bench, a main broadcast loudspeaker and a Thermotank air conditioning unit against the ship's side. On the back of the settee bench are a number of books including "A girl called Jules", "Back to the bloody border", "Palmer's last stand", "Time for the stars", "The fast gun", "Babbitt", "Saga of the Sierras", "Long Ride to Abilene", "Enter the Saint", "Another Woman's Shoes", "Death in a white tie" and "Walker".
