On board the Type 12 frigate HMS Berwick (1959) alongside the south wall in No.3 basin at Chatham Dockyard, near the end of her modernization which commenced 4 December 1967 and completed 4 June 1971. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from 62 station on the starboard side of the mess showing a row comprising ten kit lockers, a mess locker, a greatcoat locker and suitcase racks against the forward bulkhead. Coat hooks and more kit lockers are on the left. An automatic emergency lantern is by the side of the mess door. A vertical format negative.
